Hello There!I am Erin Retson, a Scottish illustrator of nature, nostalgia and narratives. In 2021 I graduated from the University of Cumbria with a First in Illustration.
I currently live in the south of Scotland on a small farm. Through our living room window, across the sea, is the Lake District, a place of literary and landscapes that influences my work.
In my studio I sit everyday to create in my sketchbooks. It is a practice important to discovering new motifs and marks to add to my illustration work.

I use a variety of media, but I return to my gouache paints and pencils. Colour within my art centres on a yellow ochre, a rusty red and a viridian green. All these elements are important in capturing the imagery in my work and conveying a story.
My inspirations come from everywhere. Museums, galleries, video games, nautical themes, folklore, little objects, art books, the list is endless. Small things I love are fairisle jumpers, the change of season to autumn, antique keys and oak leaves.
In my spare time I play RPG video games, take walks in nature and watch nostalgic films.
