I have found some interviews with the illustrator Kate Leiper who I will be comparing in my dissertation with Alexander Lindberg. They are helpful in understanding how they work as artist to bring the folktales to life, as well as why she likes to illustrate folktales.

Kate Leiper is an artist and children's illustrator based in Edinburgh. Her work has a style of its own, instantly recognisable, highly desirable and having a loyal and enthusiastic following. Her work is figurative and for the most part based upon narrative. She is particularly inspired by Scottish legends, folklore and fairytales.

In search of inspiration, Caroline Deacon invites established writers and illustrators to tell us about their creative space. This month features illustrator Kate Leiper. Tell us about your creative space. I'm based in Edinburgh and have a studio at Summerhall, which used to be the old Royal Dick Vet School.

I have also found some background information on Scottish folktales from the book Thistle and Thyme that I originally wanted to use to compare.

There is also helpful information at the history press for Scottish folktales and their history, mainly focused on Perthshire, but can apply to the whole of Scotland.
